Early 1900s, near perfect condition Decorative Copper Plate with Sterling Hieroglyphic Inlay. The hieroglyphic decoration reflects the West’s enduring fascination with the newly uncovered Valley of the Kings. At the bottom most tier, we see the Sphinx and Three Great Pyramids, which is the culmination of a classical narration of the strength and military prowess of the Pharaohs, while also weaving in the divine right of pharaohs, in the form of glyphs for Egyptian gods such as Horus, Isis, Osiris and Ra. The phenomenal condition and intricacy of detail in this Plate will no doubt be an endless source of admiration & conversation. Can be hung on a wall or displayed flat.
